A brand new Elden Ring challenge has surfaced online, and this might be the hardest one we’ve ever actually seen.

We’ve covered Elden Ring challenge mods from time-to-time across the site, with ones such as Weapon Randomizer and Rune Health being excellent ways to spice up your next playthrough.

But the latest challenge added to Elden Ring’s Nexus Mods page may just be the greatest challenge awaiting us, and we dare anyone to come and try to beat the whole game this way.

For those familiar with the game ‘QWOP’, you may already know what’s included in the QWOP mod for Elden Ring.

The mod changes the way your character moves so that you have to manually move through the world with janky ragdoll physics, using different keyboard keys to control your individual limbs.

With the mod installed, pressing Q and W will move your thighs, while pressing O and P will move your calves. The goal is to essentially walk without falling on the ground, but that’s pretty difficult because the controls are incredibly difficult to master.

You can turn the camera or lock onto an enemy to change the direction you walk in, but beware that falling over will deal damage to your character and also resets your position.

Elden Ring's QWOP mod may just be the most brutal challenge ever designed for this game

While playing in this mode, all other forms of movement such as walking, crouching, rolling, backstepping and riding Torrent are not allowed. However, you can still attack, cast spells, use items, and jump. So, technically, you may still be able to beat the game this way.

However, I’m not sure we’d recommend this given how frustrating QWOP is. The original game released in 2008 and ended up being one of the most iconic browser-based games of all time, famous for its maddening difficulty.

Elden Ring’s QWOP mod creator tomcIark has released some additional information which may prove helpful if you do decide to try and beat the game in this mode.

For starters, the mechanics of the mod assume that you’re standing on flat ground, which is why your legs may visually clip through certain rocks and hills dotted around the game map. For physics purposes, variations in elevation are also ignored.

tomclark also mentions that you’re “considered to have fallen when your head or torso makes contact with the surface level,” which is measured as if there was a flat plane immediately below the player.

They finally add that moving forward as part of an attack animation is allowed, but will return you to your original position as the animation ends to avoid you cheesing the game by moving forward by attacking.

Altogether, if you do try to attempt this mod, know that we salute you and wish you the best of luck on what may become a rather lengthy endeavour.
