On February 26, 1986, the world of anime would change forever as Toei Animation's adaptation of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball premiered on Fuji TV. Running almost entirely concurrently as Toriyama was writing and drawing Dragon Ball in Weekly Shonen Jump (nearly catching up multiple times), the Dragon Ball anime helped bring the series to a much wider audience and established the franchise as an international juggernaut – one that fans still love and talk about 40 years later.
