In a move that can only be described as disrespectful, the 98th Academy Awards' In Memoriam tribute has chosen to completely omit and ignore one of the pioneers of modern cinema, David Keighley. Aged 77, David Keighley passed away last year on August 28, 2026 following a battle with cancer. Keighley was IMAX's Chief Quality Officer for 15 years, working with major filmmakers like Christopher Nolan to ensure every film projected on an IMAX screen was of the highest picture and sound quality imaginable. IMAX is the gold standard when it comes to watching movies on the big screen, and David Keighley's work with the company is a large reason why.
