Nature Transformation is one of the foundations of the power system in Naruto, and there are a total of five chakra natures in the series. These are Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth, and lastly Water. Nature Transformation is what determines what type of jutsu a person will be able to use. Many characters can master two or three nature types, but some gifted individuals are capable of using all five natures. There are only a handful of characters who achieved this by working tirelessly to reach such heights.
